A major infrastructure upgrade is underway at 14聽Wing Greenwood, where construction of a new refuelling tender garage recently reached a key milestone with the raising of its steel structure. This $33-million facility will replace the existing 1963-built garage, offering 24/7 refuelling and defuelling support for flying missions.
With space for 10聽refuelling vehicles, the 2,558-m2聽garage includes dedicated bays for vehicle maintenance and washing, with significantly improved clearance around each vehicle for daily inspections and testing. Advanced systems for handling substances such as fuel, oil, glycol, and firefighting foam will ensure environmental protection through specialized sanitary lines and on-site containment. Beyond its operational upgrades, the building is classified as a post-disaster structure, engineered to withstand seismic activity and other extreme events.
