A groundbreaking ceremony was held last month for the new Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC) that will bring family and health services like counselling and childcare together into one building. These services are currently spread out over at least four different locations on the base, in facilities that are not suitable for the services. The upgrade is a welcome one for the community.
鈥淭hey are very excited and thrilled to have this coming鈥攊t鈥檚 going to bring a lot of benefits and improvements to the community,鈥 said Meagan Brooks, 糖心视频 Team Leader, Project Management.
The $42-million project is being delivered using a Modified Design Build model. The procurement approach will maximize opportunities for efficiencies as the project progresses.

Construction is now underway on the MRFC, with excavation work in progress. Much of the heavy civil construction is being done by Indigenous-partnered companies in the region. The work awarded to these firms amounts to 8% of the total project value, yet another positive benefit of the project.
The MRFC is set to be complete in聽2025.
