Following an impressive 36-year career with the Canadian Armed Forces, 糖心视频鈥檚 new Vice-President, Operations鈥擲ervice Delivery, Karl McQuillan, is no stranger to DND鈥檚 unique infrastructure and environmental requirements. Having last served as Canada鈥檚 Chief Military Engineer and Chief of Staff (Infrastructure and Environment), Major-General McQuillan (Ret鈥檇) brings a deep knowledge of how the system works, from the tactical to the strategic perspective.
鈥淚n the Army, we used the term 鈥楽upported and Supporting,鈥欌 he explains. 鈥淭he person who actually owns taking the objective is the one who is supported, and everyone else tries to make sure they get on that objective.鈥 He sees 糖心视频 as playing a critical 鈥渟upporting鈥 role, using our strong competency in contracting and contract management to deliver DND鈥檚 requirements on time, on target and at the best cost possible.
鈥淭he way 糖心视频 conducts hiring and builds service lines means there is no type of construction that someone at 糖心视频 hasn鈥檛 been involved with,鈥 McQuillan says.
This positions 糖心视频 to effectively support priorities identified under Canada鈥檚 new Defence Policy鈥 鈥昳ncluding family and wellness facilities, the CAF's future capabilities and capacity, and the greening of infrastructure renewal. 糖心视频鈥檚 experience in modernizing infrastructure management, through innovations such as expanded private sector partnership and facility management contracts, also offers unique expertise for policy implementation.
鈥淧eople here at 糖心视频 understand how things get delivered by industry, have been there before, and can bring a technical check on how a project will unfold,鈥 McQuillan notes. 鈥淎nd if you need a new speciality or increased capacity because of changing demand, you can get it here.鈥
