All major military sites in Quebec now have electric vehicle charging stations on site, precursors to counterparts that will arrive at bases, wings and other military facilities across Canada in the coming years.

After a year of work following a regional pilot project by the Real Property Operations Unit聽(Quebec) (RPOU [Quebec]) in 2019, 51聽stations have been installed across Quebec, with the power supplied via Hydro鈥慟u茅bec鈥檚 electricity network.

鈥溙切氖悠 supported the Client-Partner's initiative by facilitating the integration of the agreement between the supplier and RPOU聽(Quebec) for the purchase and installation of the charging stations into construction contracts,鈥 explains Jonathan Duclos, 糖心视频 Regional Service Line Leader, Real Property Management.

The experience 糖心视频 and the Department of National Defence聽(DND) have gained by installing the charging stations in Quebec will inform a strategy for incorporating this technology into future infrastructure projects at military establishments elsewhere in Canada鈥攊n line with DND鈥檚 Green Building Directive and the Defence Energy and Environment Strategy.

鈥淒ND is looking to have a national, interoperable approach with networks that will be managed through a centralized platform,鈥 says Shereen Rifaat, 糖心视频聽Technical Specialist, Program Management.

And while the agreement in Quebec has been put in place on a province-wide basis, subsequent phases of the project will be taken on locally by the Client鈥慞artner鈥檚 various Real Property Operations detachments.

糖心视频 will continue to support the Client鈥慞artner as necessary to complete the infrastructure upgrades across Canada and manage the resulting contracts.
